INFORMATION ON JOINING THE CHEER TEAM
The primary goal of every individual in this organization is to exemplify and enhance the true meaning of Lion Pride at Loyola Marymount University. The Spirit Squad at Loyola Marymount University lends their support to LMU's athletic teams. The co-ed squad and mascot creates an exciting environment for Lions fans by cheering and entertaining.
If you are interested in becoming a member of the LMU Spirit Squad, here are some things you need to know:
- Being a member of the Spirit Squad requires a yearlong commitment, with practices/camp starting before school begins (early August). As a member of the Spirit Squad, your first priority must be the squad, placing second only to each individual's academics. Being a member of the squad must be a commitment above all other activities and work schedules.
- No scholarships are available for squad members. Cheer is considered a non-scholarship sport.
- Auditions for the LMU Spirit Squad take place once a year. The audition date for 2008 will be May 3 at 8 a.m. in Gersten Pavilion. Click here to download the cheer application (Adobe Reader required), which must be submitted by April 25.
